Develop an efficient data pipeline for an improved NFDS that is repeatable, scalable, and cost-effective.
The objectives of the research are:
a. Design an efficient data pipeline that is repeatable, and cost-effective to support regular updates to the NFDS.
b. Ensure the pipeline can integrate diverse data sources (e.g. transport, administrative, logistics, supply chain).
c. Enhance detail on freight commodity types, volumes, origins, destinations, time sensitivity.
d. Pilot the most promising data sources and any required modelling to enable the forecast of freight demand by commodity type and spatial location.
e. Recommend a methodology to validate the quality of the results.
f. Use the validation methodology to evaluate trade-offs between cost, complexity, and data quality.
g. Ensure that the pipeline can be established to allow repeatability over time.
