23-018 Open Spaces Strategy

We are seeking a supplier who can progress the development of an Open Spaces Strategy for the District.

A framework for planning, management, and development of the 1,440 hectares of Council-owned open
space over the next 15 years is required, to respond to evolving community needs and growth, and to support
decision making and strategic investment, particularly for the acquisition and divestment of open space.

A tender is also being advertised for the redevelopment of the Whakatāne War Memorial Hall (WWMH) and
master planning for the recreation precinct at Rex Morpeth Park and Rugby Park, the work for which will be
undertaken simultaneously. The Open Spaces Strategy will provide a framework to facilitate decision making
in relation to the WWMH and recreation precinct project.
