New Plymouth District Council

26-080 NPWWTP RAS Building Motor Control Centre Upgrade (Electrical Switchboard)

New Plymouth District Council (NPDC) is seeking a contractor with experience and expertise in delivering electrical and control system upgrades for wastewater treatment facilities. We need to replace the existing Motor Control Centre (MCC) and associated Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) at NPDC’s Return Activated Sludge (RAS) building in order to modernise plant operations, improve reliability, and ensure compliance with current NPDC standards.
Our overall objectives include:
• Replacing the aging MCC with a modern unit featuring enhanced protection, power monitoring, and HMI control systems.
• Integrating new and upgraded Local Control Stations (LCSs) for pumps and motors.
• Maintaining continuous plant operation during the upgrade through temporary cut-over panels and cabling.
• Ensuring safe, efficient installation and commissioning of all equipment, including compliance documentation and as-built drawings.
This project is critical to improving operational resilience and reducing risks associated with outdated electrical infrastructure at the New Plymouth Wastewater Treatment Plant.
