Project Summary
The brief is to seismically upgrade the Everton Halls three blocks D1, D2 & D3 known ‘seismic risk grade C’ buildings to above 67% NBS, with a target of achieving 80%NBS, where possible, as these buildings are classed as Importance Level 2 (IL2). An additional requirement is to upgrade the bathrooms and kitchens in these blocks as well.
Two of these student accommodation blocks, D1 & D2 are currently assessed as having a seismic rating of 35% NBS and one building, the student accommodation block D3, is assessed as 53% NBS, as defined within Detailed Seismic Assessments for each building.
The proposed construction works are programmed to commence from the end of the academic trimester 2 (early November) 2026. The remainder of the Victoria University of Wellingtons (VUW) Everton Hall Student Accommodation Campus shall remain live. The rest of the Campus will remain live with Student occupants during trimester 3.
This project includes for no upgrades to existing services, other than where required to facilitate the seismic upgrades, upgrades to the kitchens and bathrooms and where required to support the Building Consent applications for each building.
These buildings are required to be fully operational from the start of Trimester 2 (July) 2027.
