Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment

Administration of the Applied Doctorates Scheme

The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is publishing this Future Procurement Opportunity to inform potential suppliers about the upcoming procurement of supplier(s) to administer and manage funding for the training of doctoral learners in applied skills, alongside research skills.

The scheme is intended to help bridge the gap between academic research and generating value from that research through a programme of practical training provided in conjunction with doctoral training. It aims to improve the integration of research in business, social and environmental settings, fills skills gaps and improves employment mobility and therefore career outcomes for graduates.

The anticipated release of a Registration of Interest (ROI) onto the open market is May/June 2024 and this will create a shortlist of potential respondents to receive the RFP for the main contractor(s).
