Fire and Emergency New Zealand

Automated Location and Positioning System (ALPS)

Fire and Emergency New Zealand are seeking a supplier who can provide and install an Automated Location and Positioning System (ALPS) that will be:
• installed in a wide range of heavy vehicles
• compatible with the New Zealand Transverse Mercator 2000 (NZTM2000) projection standard (based on the NZGD2000 datum) that Fire and Emergency uses
• 24/7 mission critical

Fire and Emergency currently have an Automated Location and Positioning System (ALPS) installed on 920 trucks. This system accurately tracks, utilising the Global Positioning System (GPS), and reports vehicle locations to one or more networks.

The current devices Fire and Emergency use on its fleet of fire appliances operate on the Spark and One NZ 3G network. With planned closures of these networks in the near future, we are looking to replace and upgrade the existing units with ones that are compatible with a range of transmission bearers.
