The Wellington City Council is seeking proposals from potential suppliers who will help enable the beneficial reuse of biosolids set to be produced by the new Sludge Minimisation Facility (SMF), currently due for completion in 2026.
The SMF is expected to produce Grade A, thermally dried, biosolids at a rate of approximately 5 – 6.5 metric tonnes per day.
The successful proposal(s) will address the following when determining what the most suitable reuse option for WCC:
• Cost effectiveness
• Sustainability and continuity of reuse demand
• Environmental impact
• Stakeholder groups
• Mana Whenua principles
