Burgess Access Bridge Replacement (Design and Construct)

This project is part of Gisborne District Council's recovery programme of works following the damage caused by Cyclone Gabrielle.

GDC requires a Contractor who has the expertise, experience and resources to construct the replacement Burgess Bridge. The Contract Works includes:
- Design and construction of a new single-lane Burgess Access Bridge over the Hangaroa River, including all structural elements such as foundations, abutments, piers (if required), scour protection, deck, barriers, surfacing, and transition works.
- The Contractor is responsible for selecting the bridge type, span arrangement, structural form, foundation system, and materials whilst ensuring compliance with the Principal’s Design Criteria.
- The design and construction of road approach works, which include earthworks, road geometry, pavement structure, surface drainage, signage, safety barriers, and tie-ins to the existing road network, all in accordance with the performance requirements set out in the Principal’s Design Criteria.
- The design and construction of all necessary retaining structures to support road embankments, bridge approaches, and associated earthworks.
- Preparation and submission of all required Producer Statements (PS1–PS4) and supporting documentation.
- Full preparation, submission and responsibility for obtaining requisite Statutory Approvals (including resource consent and building consent) for the project.
