Certification of Safety Cameras

Waka Kotahi’s ‘Road to Zero’ Strategy adopts a ‘Vision to Zero’ of New Zealand, where no one is killed or seriously injured in road crashes, and has a target for reducing annual deaths and serious injuries by 40 percent by 2030 (from 2018 levels).

Certification of Safety Cameras is seen as a key priority for Waka Kotahi to effectively operate the Safety Cameras, enforce infringement notices in accordance with the legislation, and meet the outcomes set out by the Road to Zero strategy.

Waka Kotahi is seeking to appoint a competent long-term Safety Camera Certification supplier who can deliver to its business, technical and legislative requirements. It will ensure that Waka Kotahi can provide evidential proof of the testing and accuracy of a Safety Camera and to ensure fairness and accuracy when issuing infringement notices in line with Section 146 of the Land Transport Act.
