Gisborne District Council (Council) requires two experienced independent commissioners to sit on the Tairawhiti Resource Management Plan (TRMP) Review Committee. This committee will be made up of commissioners, councillors and up to six iwi appointees. The purpose of the committee is to review draft/proposed plan changes and variations under the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) prior to them being presented to Council. The committee must take into account community and Council values, promotion of the sustainable management of Tairawhiti's natural and physical resources and application of a Te Tiriti articles based approach to future planning.
This forms part of the process of the wider TRMP review which commenced in 2021 and is currently moving towards Phase Two.
