Wellington City Council

Cuba Street Business Case Development

Cuba Street is the creative heart of our city. This business case will seek to improve the Cuba Street Precinct and evaluate opportunities to make it more vibrant, connected and compact. There was a resolution on 10 November 2021 to investigate pedestrianisation of Cuba street and develop a business case for the next Long Term Plan.

There are possibilities for a variety of urban regeneration projects that would improve the vitality of the precinct. This business case would examine the scope area in depth and identify key project composition for further development.

A suitably skilled design consultant (this can be a single person or multiple depending on capacity and capability) is required to develop the design options, conduct stakeholder engagement and undertake a cost benefit analysis of the various options to feed into a Business Case. WCC are needing to perform much of this work at pace with a fully formed draft Business Case needed by August/September 2022. In order to achieve this timeframe, design options would need to be investigated and proposed by 30 June 2022. As such WCC are looking for responses from suppliers with the capacity and experience to work at an accelerated rate.
