KiwiRail is intending to procure the services from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor, who will undertake the fitout works related to the Wellington Train Control Upgrade Project (WTCUP)
WTCUP will deliver the facility and related infrastructure changes required to relocate the National Train Control Centre and its operations to purpose-built facilities outside its current Wellington Railway Station location.
The new WTCUP facility will be located in Wallaceville, Hutt Valley and will be within the Blue Mountains Business Campus development being undertaken by Willis Bond.
The WTCUP Detailed Design for the fitout construction of the Wallaceville facility is expected to be complete by December 2021, with the control room fitout construction period is expected from August 2022 to November 2022 and the office fitout expected from October 2022 to December 2022.
The facility needs to be complete to allow transition of KiwiRail train operations staff to the new facility for normal business operations prior to Christmas 2022.
