Auckland Council

Expression of Interest (EOI) for Auckland International Airport Limited Consultation

Auckland Council is proposing a policy change to enable a full sell down of its 18.09 per cent shareholding in Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL). The policy change is proposed for the 2023/2024 Annual Budge which seeks to improve the financial position of council and reduce pressure on operating budgets. A decision on whether to sell any or all of the council’s shareholding in AIAL has not yet been made and will be subject to public consultation over the next few months. A final decision on whether to sell the council’s shareholding will be made by the council’s Governing Body in the first half of 2023.

The council requires independent advice on options regarding any potential future sell down of its shareholding in AIAL (transaction preparation). This will include advice relating to, but not limited to: council objectives, sell down options; strategies to minimise execution risks; strategies to maximise value; timing considerations; engaging other advisers and brokers, communication strategy; investor engagement.

While the advisor is unlikely to be considered for any transaction execution role to sell the council’s shareholding in AIAL, they would be expected to provide independent advice on the transaction execution process and provide analysis as required to ensure that any potential future execution is completed efficiently, cost effectively and successfully.

The purpose of this notice is to identify suppliers who are interested in submitting a proposal for the required services. The contract is anticipated to commence in March 2023.

Respond by completing and submitting the attached EOI Response Form through GETS on, or before, 2pm on Wednesday, 8th Feb 2023, to indicate your interest to participate.

Please also refer to the EOI documents attached for more information.
