Accident Compensation Corporation

External Audiology Reference Group (EARG)

Audiology professionals are usually the initial point of contact for clients experiencing injury-related hearing loss. They play a key role in supporting clients by establishing cover and enhancing their participation in daily life through improved hearing, including access to hearing aids and related services.

We value the audiology sector’s role and believe the sector has a wealth of knowledge and experience that can assist ACC in developing options on how we can work more efficiently and effectively to positively improve the service and ensure the sustainability of the Scheme.

As a result, we are forming an External Audiology Reference Group which will provide guidance to ACC on potential changes to the service, including the provision of hearing aids.

We’re looking for representatives from the audiology sector who have relevant expertise, and who want to work with us to share their perspectives, give advice, and provide guidance on opportunities to improve audiology-related commissioning, including the funding and provision of hearing aids and associated services. We are also keen to test our ideas with group members, working collaboratively to address the shared challenge while ensuring positive outcomes for all New Zealanders.
