Footpath Renewals & Kerb and Channel Renewals

The Dunedin City Council (DCC) Transportation group have an ongoing asset renewal and upgrade programme for the city’s footpath and kerb assets with funding from Waka Kotahi. The DCC is seeking one or more contracting partners to fulfil new contracts for Footpath Renewals (10595) and Kerb and Channel (10596) starting 1 July 2025. The initial contract term is 6-year initial term and a 3-year right of renewal option for a potential 9-year contract, either as a combined contract or separate contracts.

Traditionally regarded as low complexity and low-risk work, we believe there is an opportunity to deliver more efficient, systematic and consistent delivery of these renewals and to promote positive change. The DCC is keen to explore innovative options, such as:
• Material re-use/recycling and diversion of waste from landfill
• Waste minimisation
• Emissions reduction

We seek to partner with a Contractor(s) that will consider these contracts of strategic importance in developing and improving contract/project performance, applying innovation to reduce carbon emissions, introduce new processes and materials (perhaps diverting waste from landfill) and providing broader outcomes through the life of the contract.

Tenderers may respond to the footpath contract, the kerb and channel contract, or for both contracts (particularly if this offers contract price efficiencies).
