Future Procurement Opportunity (FPO) – Supply of Adhesives, Sealants, and Haemostats

Pharmac is considering issuing a competitive process for supply of adhesives, sealants, and haemostat devices not previously captured in a Pharmac process, or currently listed on the Pharmaceutical Schedule.

The specific scope of the RFP may be subject to change, however the process is expected to include general and specialised adhesives, sealants, and haemostat devices utilised across various specialties. This includes:
• Active and passive haemostats
• Topical skin adhesives
• Tissue sealants/adhesives
• Sheet and pad, sponge, matrix and gel, patch, and powder formulations
• Equipment directly used in application of adhesives, sealants and haemostats (e.g. spray applicators)

The estimated gross annual expenditure on adhesives, sealants, and haemostat devices by Te Whatu Ora in the 2022 FYR was approximately $12,000,000.

Pharmac is working to establish national agreements for medical devices. Ultimately, Pharmac will make choices about which new medical devices will be introduced for use in Te Whatu Ora Hospitals, that will get the best health outcomes from within a set amount of funding, reflecting these choices via the Pharmaceutical Schedule.

This potential procurement opportunity is being scoped as a medical device category area that may not have been captured through other national contracting procurement processes.
