Cyclone Gabrielle struck the Gisborne Tairāwhiti region in February 2023, causing significant and widespread damage to bridge and road infrastructure, including a multitude of slips and dropouts. The Gisborne District Council (GDC) has a requirement to carry out remediation work to approximately 400 slip and dropout sites throughout the Gisborne Tairāwhiti local road network. These have been identified as either simple non-complex works or technical complex works that are likely to require additional design.
Given the varied complexity of the slips and dropouts and the large quantity of sites across a vast network area, GDC has elected to create a Panel of pre-qualified Contractors. The intent of this Panel is to simplify and speed up the engagement of Contractors to undertake these works. The period for remediation is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2024, through to September 2026.
GDC requires Contractors who have the ability and resources to undertake slip and dropout remediation works for non-complex or complex (requiring additional design) works.
