Invitation to participate in the redesign of the Vehicle Modification Service - Design workshop, 20 February 2024, Wellington

ACC is reviewing its current Vehicle Modification Service in preparation for its new contract, starting on 1 July 2025. A tender is anticipated to be released late December 2024 or early January 2025.

The Vehicle Modification Service enables injured clients who have been identified by ACC as requiring a vehicle modification to:
• Get in and out of a vehicle safely and have freedom and safety of movement while in it; and
• Safely drive or operate a vehicle; and/or
• Travel safely as a passenger; and/or
• Transport essential mobility equipment; and
• Live as independently as possible.

There are currently 3 levels of vehicle modification: Level 1 and 2 are low to medium complexity modifications, Level 3 are significant and complex modifications. More details can be found on the current service schedule: In the 22/23 financial year, ACC funded the purchase of 334 vehicles and the modification of 466 client vehicles. 70-80% of those vehicles required Level 1 and 2 modifications only, 20-30% required Level 3 modification.

This design workshop enables ACC to work collaboratively with the sector to improve the current service, to deliver a high quality and sustainable service to clients in a timely manner. If you would like to be involved in shaping the new service, we encourage you to register and participate in this workshop. This is the only in-person design and development workshop.
