Journey Planner Engine

Greater Wellington Regional Council, a public statutory body constituted under the Local Government Act 2002, operates a complex, well-established public transport network across the Wellington region under the brand 'Metlink'.

Metlink is seeking to partner with a supplier to implement and deploy a multimodal journey planning engine for use by public transport customers via Metlink's app and website. We are seeking a solution that is based on OpenTripPlanner 2 (OTP2) and are looking for capable suppliers that can demonstrate a positive and successful track record implementing an OTP2 based journey planning solution in a public transport context.

This opportunity relates to a maximum eight (8) year contract to provide these services to Metlink. Our primary goal is to achieve operational parity with our existing journey planning solution, followed by implementing improvements and benefits offered by an OTP2-based solution once the solution is established.
