University of Canterbury is seeking to purchase a laser interferometer.
A laser interferometer that can measure both out-of-plane and a single in-plane vibrational component offers a significant advantage for materials characterization, micromachined ultrasonic transducer (MUT) analysis, and imaging applications. By capturing motion in two orthogonal directions, it enables a more complete understanding of dynamic behaviour than systems limited to out-of-plane measurements alone.
This instrument will provide fundamental and important measurements of a material’s vibrational and elastic properties. This data is of base-level importance in materials characterization, and can also be used to study the composition, thermal behaviour, and structural integrity of materials and assemblies.
