Dannevirke High School is seeking a suitably experienced main contractor to deliver the Block H SPDIS Classroom Upgrade, comprising refurbishment of the existing Māori Studies classroom together with the adjoining kitchenette and uniform/resource storage areas. The works are intended to provide a modernised, durable and fit-for-purpose learning environment with improved functionality, finishes, storage, acoustics and building services.
The scope includes demolition and refurbishment of internal wall, ceiling and floor finishes; new classroom, kitchenette and storage joinery; plumbing, electrical/data and heating works; new and refurbished doors; new aluminium double-glazed windows and external doors; localised recladding and associated structural alterations.
External works include construction of a new timber deck opening onto the enclosed courtyard, together with associated steps, handrails and an accessible ramp. The project also includes fire, accessibility, structural and emergency lighting requirements coordinated through the Tender Documents.
Asbestos-containing materials are present within parts of the work area and contractors will be required to appropriately manage any disturbance or removal in accordance with the project asbestos documentation and applicable requirements.
The schools preference is for the project to be delivered in a single stage and be ready for use for the start of the 2027 school year.
