Aurora College in Invercargill is receiving a major capital works project upgrade to their campus. Blocks P O, Q, R, are prefabricated buildings build between 1974 and 1977. They consist of asbestos fibre cement cladding and a steel roof They are interconnected by a clear lite veranda.
Some of the timber windows are rotten and non-operational. The Invercargill City Council have visited site and determined that to replace the timber windows and fibre cement cladding a building consent is required. This necessitates an upgrade to the life safety systems such as a fire alarm and emergency lighting.
The Project Scope is
• Installing a type 4 fire alarm to all blocks.
• Emergency lighting
• New windows to P Block. (Ministry spaces 4,3,2, 6, 1)
• Replace asbestos cladding to affected areas of P Block with Ministry approved fibre cement. Cladding.
