The Marlborough Events Centre (MEC) situated at 42a Alfred Street, Blenheim is owned by Marlborough District Council. Since 01 February 2021, a management agreement has been in place with the Marlborough Civic Theatre Trust (MCTT) for the venue’s day to day operation and management. The multi-functional, purpose-built venue caters for a large range of events from small scale business meetings to gala dinners and multi-day conferences with a maximum capacity of approx. 560 pax. Council is now looking to establish an approved supplier list to offer catering services for these events.
MCTT provide event coordination services for bookings at MEC and require catering suppliers to partner with in order to deliver seamless service and exceptional quality catering. Partners will need to work in diverse environments – either within the MEC space or, potentially, the ASB Theatre kitchen. Both currently have limited resources. Putting the customer experience first, providing good value for suitable menus and demonstrating a sound understanding of the MEC venue operations are key attributes sought from potential suppliers submitting to this REOI process.
Without limiting the possible outcomes of this REOI process, the intended purpose of this REOI is to pre-qualify and shortlist limited successful parties for participation in an approved supplier list.
