Methane inhibitors have emerged as a promising approach to reducing methane emissions from ruminant animals. Bromoform, administered in a compound form or contained within seaweed, is one such example and its application as a practical, safe, and cost-effective methane mitigation approach for ruminant animals is actively being researched both globally and in New Zealand.
The NZAGRC wish to commission a report to investigate and detail the research and portfolio of evidence required to enable the practical use of bromoform as a methane mitigating technology in New Zealand farm systems.
