National Civil Justice Observatory

The Ministry is looking to engage a tertiary institution to house a National Civil Justice Observatory. The National Civil Justice Observatory will be to:
• coordinate reporting of justice sector stakeholders’ civil justice initiatives,
• share information between stakeholders,
• facilitate stakeholder connections, and
• maintain momentum of the Wayfinding for Civil Justice (Wayfinding), a national strategy on access to civil justice that can be found at https://www.justice.govt.nz/justice-sector-policy/key-initiatives/access-to-civil-justice

Project name: National Civil Justice Observatory
Estimated budget: $120,000 (excluding GST) per year for three years with a possibility to extend for up to 2 years. Plus approximately $58,500 in one-off funding from outside of the Ministry.
Funding arrangement: Conditional grant
Indicative grant start date: May 2024

The Ministry expects to release further information regarding this project in February 2024.
