Gisborne District Council have received funding from the Ministry for the Environment to explore Nature-based Solutions(NbS) in order to work with the natural characteristics of the Waimata awa and its floodplain to support flood resilience. To achieve this, Council requires the development of a spatial model or tool for the purpose of testing the feasibility of NbS at a sub-catchment level to support land use change decisions to reduce sediment, woody debris and run off into the Waimata River system. We are seeking a credible provider with the capability, experience and capacity in combining a range of existing data sets to assist with the development of a spatial model or tool that can guide land use decision making. The Supplier will be expected to work with our established Governance Group, inclusive of mana whenua, hapu and iwi o Tairawhiti, throughout the development of the model or tool.
