Our New Energy Future - South Island Distribution Group

Over the next few months, distribution companies from the South Island that have already identified areas of their network experiencing constraints will be seeking Registrations of Interest to provide non-network capacity support. And, because distribution network constraints come and go over time, there may be further participation from other South Island distributors if needs cases arise.

We are committed to ensuring the procurement process reflects a move towards establishing a standardised approach for non-network solutions - to ensure market players and new market entrants gain an understanding of what distribution companies will be requiring, making it easier for them to participate across the South Island. By working together to create a streamlined approach for future procurement opportunities, each EDB will therefore be seeking feedback on their procurement process so that we can learn and adapt with potential respondents to further improve, innovate and progress this important energy future for New Zealand.

We are excited about working with a range of new market players and Flexibility Service providers in the future, and urge you to look out for Registrations of Interest requests being issued over the coming months for areas in the South Island seeking non-network solutions.
