Physisorption analyser

The University of Canterbury (UC) is seeking to acquire a physisorption analyser to strengthen its research infrastructure and analytical capability within the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering (CAPE).
The introduction of this instrument will provide additional analytical capacity for characterising material properties such as surface area, pore size distribution, and adsorption behaviour. This will alleviate the current bottleneck caused by the heavily oversubscribed existing unit, enabling simultaneous measurements and significantly improving research efficiency and throughput.
This procurement represents a strategic investment in UC’s research capability. The analyser will support postgraduate research, enhance student outcomes through improved access to critical equipment, and increase the University’s ability to generate research outputs and external funding. It will also enable UC to expand consultancy services and reduce reliance on external testing, improving turnaround times and reducing costs.
Physisorption analysis is a fundamental technique in materials science, catalysis, gas processing, and energy research. Access to high-quality physisorption instrumentation is essential for maintaining internationally competitive research programmes and supporting interdisciplinary collaboration across academic and industry partners.
