The University requires:
An oscillatory rheometer operating in cone-and-plate and parallel plate modes to characterise the complex flow properties of fluids. The proposed instrument should be modular, such that additional capabilities can easily be added (e.g. DMA). The instrument should be capable of testing to high temperatures, allowing measurements from -160 to 600 °C. The particular instrument should allow measurement over a broad range of viscosities, allowing measurements of thermoset resin curing, chemical modification of thermoplastics as well monitoring thermal degradation of polymers as well as bituminous binders.
