West Park School has experienced a decline in roll numbers since 2018, based on the current figures the school has a surplus of 5 teaching spaces.
In line with the surplus, rationalisation has been considered. Blocks E and F have been identified as buildings best suited to be removed based on them being old stock, reasonably easily accessed and possibly able to be removed in one piece.
This would also allow Block E to be removed from the weather tightness programme.
This project will demolish and remove to landfill both buildings including the associated decks, steps and ramps. The work will include all services isolations.
The scope will include all foundations, clearing of the ground and reinstatement of this area back to grass or paving as was original there.
An asbestos demolition survey has been carried out identifying asbestos wall and soffit linings to both buildings. To Block E asbestos linings are behind plywood cladding and asbestos debris spread about over the ground.
Block E when it is removed will expose the end wall of Block B for which some make good of the weatherboard cladding will be required.
The work due to its nature shall be undertaken over a school holiday period with the make good works to buildings and grounds following in term time.
