The building stock at Gleniti School is of an age where the exterior cladding is predominantly of a fibre cement board that contains asbestos. Due to the age of these buildings the cladding has reached a point where the cladding is becoming brittle and freely breaking apart. As well as an increasing weathertightness risk, this also increases the asbestos management risk and so it has been decided that the buildings are to be reclad in a new cost efficient and simple cladding. The opportunity will also be taken to install insulation, building wrap, a cavity system and new double glazed window joinery and exterior doors.
The Project completion date will be heavily affected by the proposed construction methodology, but it is expected that the project will be completed within 18 months
