RFT - Main Building Contractor for School Hall Modernisation at Ōtaki School, Ōtaki, Kāpiti Coast

Block B at Ōtaki School was constructed in 1949 and until recently was partly owned by the School Board and Ministry.

Now fully owned by the Ministry of Education, it has become apparent that some degree of failure in the subfloor foundations requires structural remediation.

Additional capital funding has been made available to also upgrade the exterior envelope of the building.

Following the recent removal of roof coverings, this project will see full replacement of original timber window joinery, the suspended timber floor will be realigned, levelled and foundations upgraded in line with the structural engineering advice.

The contract will also comprise of floor and wall finishes replacement.

The fire safety report has reviewed emergency exit provision and an additional exterior door is required together with associated landing, steps and handrails.
