RFT2759 Theatre Royal & Museum Redevelopment - Civil Works

The Theatre Royal & Museum Redevelopment project for the Timaru District Council includes an upgrade of the Theatre Royal on Stafford Street, Timaru, together with the design and construction of a new Museum on the rear of the site.

The project comprises three major elements:
1. Refurbishment of the historic theatre building, with extensions to the northern and western facades to expand and accommodate essential Front of House and Back of House Facilities.
2. A separate new-build Museum / Heritage Centre to be located on the upper half of the site (previously designated for car parking) west of the theatre and abutting Barnard Street.
3. A public open space and Laneway connecting Barnard Street and Stafford Street, to the immediate north of the existing theatre, and partially extending into the footprint of the Criterion Hotel Building.

This Request for Tender (RFT) aims to select and appoint a Civil Contractor to undertake advance works on the site. These works will include:
• Earthworks and pavement substrate to prepare the laneway
• Earthworks to and the building platform for the museum
• Below ground utilities (stormwater and wastewater reticulation, plus water supply)
• Boundary retaining structures
