Reducing the Incidence and Severity of Injuries in the Construction Sector

ACC’s Injury Prevention Strategy (2024-2033) focuses on reducing the incidence, severity, and long-term cost of injuries in New Zealand by targeting investment toward areas where the greatest measurable impact can be achieved.

Through this procurement, ACC seeks innovative, scalable, and evidence-based approaches that can reduce injury incidence and severity within the construction industry, improve worker health and safety outcomes, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the ACC Scheme. Providers will be expected to demonstrate how their proposed interventions will achieve measurable outcomes, effectively reach priority populations, and generate lasting behavioural and system-level change on one or more of the following injury types:

1. Eye injuries (specifically increasing the use of Personal Protective Equipment [PPE]);

2. Work-related musculoskeletal injuries (specifically reducing worker exposure to hazardous working environments and improving the way work is planned, designed, resourced, supervised, and carried out); and

3. Slips, trips and falls (specifically reducing worker exposure to hazardous working environments and improving the way work is planned, designed, resourced, supervised, and carried out).
