TN/26/12 – ABIS Replacement Initiative
New Zealand Police has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the replacement of its Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).
ABIS is a critical operational capability that supports identity management across Police workgroups, enabling investigative, evidential, and identification functions. It underpins court outcomes, deceased person identification, and public trust in biometric decision-making.
Police is seeking proposals for a modern, secure, and scalable solution to replace its current biometric systems (fingerprint and image management system including facial recognition capability) with a single, extensible platform.
The RFP includes detailed information on requirements, evaluation criteria, procurement process, timelines and proposed contractual arrangements.
