About Kāinga Ora
Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities is the Government’s housing and urban development agency.
We own or manage about 66,250 public homes nationwide. As New Zealand’s largest residential landlord, our role is to provide healthy, comfortable and fit-for-purpose public housing for the approximately 189,000 people who live in our properties, for the duration of their need.
Overview
Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities has a core mission to provide warm, safe and dry homes to our tenants, our customers.
Much of our state housing was built over 40 years ago, when standards were different to what they are today. There is a need to upgrade and refurbish some of this older, existing state housing to meet current standards.
The primary objective of the Retrofit programme is to modernise the existing state housing portfolio. This includes:
• Thermal upgrade, including insulation and replacement external windows/doors;
• Replacement kitchens and bathrooms;
• Creating open plan living areas;
• Incorporating accessibility features; and
• If required, re-roofing and replacement external cladding.
What we are looking for
To help deliver its Retrofit FY23 programme, Kāinga Ora is looking for capable, experienced head contractors to provide Retrofit project works in the following regions:
• Northland
• Auckland
• BOP
• Otago/Southland
• Waikato
• East North Island
• Canterbury.
