SH1 Belfast to Pegasus Motorway and Woodend Bypass - NOI - Early works implementation - Quarry Lakes Reclamation and Kaiapoi River bridge strengthening

The NZ Transport Agency is getting underway with early works for SH1 Belfast to Pegasus Motorway and Woodend Bypass.

The purpose of this Notice of Information (NOI) is to advise interested parties of its intention to go to market for these works and provide early project details and indication of the project scope ahead of the release of a Request for Tender (RFT).
The Belfast to Pegasus and Woodend bypass project is an extension of the Christchurch Northern Motorway, providing four lanes of grade separated motorway over a 10km length of SH1 north of Belfast to Pegasus. It entered pre-implementation phase earlier this year and construction of the main works is expected to start in mid-late 2026.

In advance of these main works, NZTA intends to go to market for two separate early works packages:

- Package 1: Kaiapoi River bridge strengthening
- Package 2: Quarry lakes reclamation
