SH1 Cambridge to Piarere Expressway RONS - Offline Section - D&C Contract

The Project:

NZTA intends to release the SH1 Cambridge to Piarere Expressway RONS - Offline Section - D&C Contract Registration of Interest (ROI) to the Open Market via GETS on Monday 13th July 2026.

The Cambridge to Piarere contract is a 16km long extension of the Waikato expressway from Cambridge southwards to Piarere, where it intersects with State Highway 29 connecting the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. The new expressway will improve journeys by reducing congestion, improving safety, improving travel time reliability and boosting the region’s economic growth. It will provide a more resilient roading network for this critical corridor.

The tender will be for the design and construction of the 9.2km “Offline” section from the Online corridor interface (Contract No. 12816), approximately 1 km east of the Karāpiro Interchange, through to the recently completed SH1/29 intersection.

Electronic copies of the supporting information will be available for viewing at the NZTA Data Room (SharePoint).

Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) Requirements:

- If you are intending to tender as a consortia for this work and wish to have access to the Data Room, please complete and return the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) included with this Advance Notice.
- Access to the NZTA Data Room will be provided at NZTA’s discretion following completion and return of the NDA.
