SOUTH WESTLAND SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLING SERVICES

The Principal owns transfer station sites in Whataroa and Fox Glacier and an operational landfill site in Haast and the Contractor shall run these Sites, as per this Contract, on behalf of the Principal. The Contractor shall supply an operational and legislatively compliant transfer station in Franz Josef for the term of the Contract. The Contractor must run this Site as operating a commercial business and shall, alongside this business, operate the site as a Transfer Station for use by the public, as detailed in this Contract. The Contractor shall use their own Site as the collection hub for the waste from the Whataroa and Fox Glacier Transfer Stations.
All waste from the three transfer stations shall be transported to Butler’s Landfill where the Principal’s full annually set gate fee is payable by the Contractor for the disposal of waste.
The Contract includes the continuation of the Principal’s existing levels of service for the above communities for recycling. Under this Contract the Contractor shall have ownership of all collected recyclables.
The Contract is for a minimum period of 8 years commencing 1st July 2026 and completing 30th June 2034. The Principal may, subject to the performance of the Contractor, extend the Contract a further two years in one yearly increments to 30th June 2037.
