Central Hawkes Bay District Council

Supply of Dissolved Air Flotation And UV Disinfection Systems - Contract C1416

Central Hawke’s Bay District Council (CHBDC) owns and operates several wastewater treatment plants across the District. At the Waipukurau WWTP, CHBDC plans to install a new Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) plant and replace the existing UV disinfection system to improve treated wastewater quality.

The current treatment process includes a 3.8 ha pond system, alum dosing, a lamella clarifier, sand filters, and UV disinfection. Effluent quality can vary due to changes in loads, flows, weather conditions, industrial discharges, wet weather inflow and infiltration, and summer algal blooms. The new DAF system will replace the lamella clarifier and sand filters, and a new UV system will replace the existing UV equipment.
