TC49/25 Replacement Covers for Flow Balance Tank

Tauranga City Council invites quotations for this contract for which the works/services comprise:
The Flow Balance Tank lid at our Chapel Street Wastewater Treatment Plan needs replacing because the panels of the existing lid have sagged beyond design limits. The existing lid, comprised of 90 individual concrete panels, has been in place since 1994.

So now we need to replace the lid with new panels of a similar standard or better, in terms of robustness and longevity. We want a new Flow Balance Tank lid with at least a 30-year lifespan for the concrete panels; the panels must have a maximum deflection of 10mm.

It’s an important requirement for this job that the existing lid and panels are removed and safely disposed of at the same time the new panels are installed. Further, we should point out that this work will take place when the Flow Balance tank is full and in use, so a safe work practice is paramount. The main contractor will need to be SHE or Tōtika registered or have ISO450001.

In addition to the Health & Safety requirements, we also must adhere to our resource consent conditions, which require no detectable odours at the site boundaries.

Prior to quoting, all interested parties must attend a mandatory site visit to our Wastewater Treatment Plant at 75 Chapel Street Tauranga on Tuesday 18 February from 11:00 – 12:00.
