Tauranga City Council

TC727/23: Fisherman's and Central Plaza Wharves - Design & Engineering Services

Tauranga City Council are seeking a solution that provides Council with access to experienced professionals with skills and experience in the provision of planning, design, and engineering services specific to marine structures. The overall outcomes that we want to achieve are value for money and fit for purpose marine structures that are adaptable to the changing demands from our community and environment. Respondents are expected to take a value engineering approach to the design of the new structures and consider safety in design and constructability.

Council expects options to be provided on how we can utilise materials or construction techniques that will reduce time and cost to construct while also providing us with a durable low maintenance structure that is fit for purpose. Time is of the essence; we are looking for a timely solution that is effective and efficient while still fit for purpose.

The key high-level outcomes sought from the project are:

- Develop feasible designs for each wharf to align with the Long-term Plan (LTP) outlined in the design strategy approach in the Masterplan, such that these structures can be included in the next LTP.
- Align with the Tauranga City centres vision to reconnect, amplify and transform the waterfront into a premier recreational destination.
