University of Auckland

TOC Analyser in Solids

The University requires a benchtop high-temperature combustion analyser designed to measure Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Total Inorganic Carbon (TIC), Residual Oxidizable Carbon (ROC) and Total Nitrogen (TN) in solid samples including marine sediments and plant and animal tissue. This instrument will provide highly efficient and accurate solution for measuring carbon and nitrogen content in samples with high salt content. This application requires the thermal fraction technique to differentiate and quantify the various carbon species in solid samples without requiring chemical acidification. This instrument will allow simultaneous determination of Nitrogen content via electrochemical detection alongside carbon species.
We expect the system to include all the following features
• High sensitivity with detection limit ~10ppm
• Capable to measure high salt content sediment including marine sediments and marine plant and animal tissue
• Automated operation
• Efficient sample handling
• Versatile analysis modes offering multiple analytical modes
• Temperature ramping mode with 5 temperature ramps
• Nitrogen detection module
