Tactical Groups Ballistic Shield Replacement Project

This procurement relates to the identification of and subsequent purchase of ballistic shields for New Zealand Police Tactical Groups (AOS / STG).

The objective of this procurement is to;
• Replace the current Protech Nato shields that are expiring in 2026,
• Replace the Protech Assault 3 shields that are utilised in confined spaces and are due to expire over the next few years, and
• Enhance the ballistic protective ‘wall’ capability of Tactical Group squads beyond the capability offered by a single ballistic shield.

District Tactical Groups are supplied with ballistic shields to assist in dealing with high-risk situations that involve offender/s armed with firearms.

In summary we need to establish a preferred supplier(s) to replace the Tactical Groups ballistic shields and to enhance the current ballistic protection capability.
