The Use of Remote Sensing Technology to Improve Environmental Decision Making in New Zealand

The Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment (PCE) has embarked on an investigation focussed on technologies to unlock environmental information. The project will investigate how technological advances (including data processing, sensor technology and artificial intelligence) could make it easier and cheaper to bring together existing environmental data in the hands of disparate entities, make the data more accessible and secure, and fill the many gaps that exist. As part of this investigation, the PCE is seeking to better understand how remote sensing can be used to improve environmental information available to decision-makers in New Zealand.

The PCE is seeking contract proposals to undertake consultancy work to inform the broader investigation of technologies to unlock environmental information. Specifically, the purpose of the proposed consultancy work will be to address in some detail the following question: How can remote sensing be used to improve environmental information available to decision-makers in New Zealand?
