In May 2025, Hamilton City and Waikato District Councils agreed to form a publicly owned, Council Controlled Organisation (CCO), IAWAI to deliver water services across Hamilton City and Waikato District.
As part of their delivery of services from 1 July 2026, IAWAI is planning to consolidate all three waters network renewals programme currently undertaken by Waikato District and Hamilton City Councils under one entity for a consistent and seamless delivery for the next decade. However, Watercare will continue to deliver the Waikato renewals until July 2028, at this point, all renewals will be delivered by IAWAI.
IAWAI seeking to appoint local contractors with established physical office and operational base within Waikato region and with strong renewals construction capability to support our ongoing and future programmes of work. We will consider specialist contractors from outside the region.
The delivery model for the construction works is that selected Contractors will deliver three waters construction renewals work via multi-year programmes.
We are looking for Contractors to join us, forming a long-term, dynamic supply relationship, that will deliver a step-change in our infrastructure delivery for IAWAI and the New Zealand construction.
****Please note that the NZS 3917:2025 Conditions of the Contract (Document 4) will be provided later as an addendum****
