Transport Choices: Woodville Footpaths

In August 2021, Waka Kotahi (the New Zealand Transport Agency) called for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for a Transport Choices Package – a central government led initiative seeking to enable projects which enable a reduction in “Vehicle Kilometres Travelled”, leading to a reduction in Carbon Emissions across NZ.

Tararua District Council and the Tararua Alliance developed an application seeking support for the development of footpaths in and around Woodville.

In December 2022, Tararua District Council were advised that they had been successful with the bid for funding and tentatively approved for $2 million deliver the project. Funding will be provided in two phases:

- Pre-implementation – Enables detailed scope development and design.
- Implementation – The delivery of physical works.

In order for TDC to secure Phase 2 funds, a number of deliverables must be developed and submitted to Waka Kotahi for review and final approval. The respondent is expected to assist with the development of this information in order to progress to implementation.

Respondents should be aware that this project will have a fixed budget. We will use the next stage (RFP) to assess value for money in regard to the scope of pathways that can be constructed within the budget.
