Transport Rebuild East Coast – Hikuwai Bridge (Superstructure)

TREC – Request for Quotation (RFQ)

NZ Transport Agency is advertising this Registration for Quotation (RFQ) on behalf of the Transport Rebuild East Coast (TREC) Alliance.

The TREC Alliance is a partnership between NZTA and KiwiRail with construction firms Downer, Fulton Hogan and Higgins.

In February 2023, Cyclone Gabrielle caused significant damage of State Highway 35 and washed away Hikuwai No.1 Bridge. TREC has started enabling works to replace Hikuwai Bridge No.1 as a single, two-lane bridge.

The delivery philosophy of the project will see the bridge and associated infrastructure completed by several subcontractors with key packages undertaken as separate subcontractor packages. TREC is now seeking contractors to deliver the substructure and superstructure packages.
