USP is inviting bidders for qualified vendor for the Upgrading of Generators at USP.
One of initially two data centers, the ICT Data Centre is now the sole remaining data center hosting all of USPS ICT services following a fire in 2018 that destroyed the Communications Building and USPs second data center.
The recent COVID 19 Pandemic has further accelerated the push for 100 % delivery of USPs online learning and teaching activities, as well as its administrative and student support services, increasing even further the University's reliance on the ICT Data Centre. This extends to the building support services that supply electricity and cooling to the facility.
The ICT buildings consist of Buildings A, B and C and were commissioned in 2010. Buildings A & B are provided with back-up power supply via 2 existing generators;
· 200kVA Denyo Generator (Installed with the construction of Building A & B);
· 275 kVA Pramac.(Installed in 2018)
The Building C is independently connected to a separate third generator at the USP Library. Building C is not part of this terms of reference.
The 200 kVA Denyo generator supplies back-up power to designated essential services including the data center located in Building A. It is noted from previous data logging, this generator has reached its maximum loading capacity.
The 275 kVA Pramac Generator supplies power to the non-essential services in both Building A & B. Due to capacity constraints of the Denyo Generator supplying the data center in Building A, some loads from the essential services switch board have been connected also to the non-essential services board supplied by the 275 kVA Pramac Generator.
