Health New Zealand

Vaccinator Training

Overview
Early in 2024, the Prevention Directorate, Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand are planning to release a registration of interest (ROI) for Vaccinator Training delivery.
Delivery of vaccinator training is essential to ensure that Aotearoa New Zealand has well prepared and informed vaccinators to deliver an equitable, safe, quality vaccination experience to eligible populations. The updates and refresher sessions are also delivered to vaccinators to maintain contemporary knowledge on vaccine use and administration.
Vaccinator training is used to prepare our regulated vaccinating workforce - the Vaccinating Health Worker (VHW) and Fully Authorised Vaccinator (FAV), as well as Pharmacist Vaccinators.
Our approach is intended to contribute to improved immunisation outcomes, particularly for Māori and Pacific communities, and to provide greater choice for the vaccinating workforce.

The procurement
We are commissioning a small panel of training providers to deliver vaccinator training across Aotearoa. They will bring the mātauranga (knowledge) to ensure vaccinator training meets national and local needs.

The first stage of the procurement will be openly advertised on GETS.
